I can't sleep all night.. cmon atleast give us few options.
My take on the permanent solution:
1. Recapture lost visa numbers
It will need change in law. Cannot be done without senate and congress approval
2. Medical tests are going to be valid indefinitely
Possibily but cannot be a big news, especially if we are talking about near term good news
3. Ppl who've worked for X years automatically can apply for I-485

I got a response for the SR made through Infopass saying that there is lot of work load in NSC so there have extended the processing of my I-485. IN the SR we have asked about the incorrect EB classification and wanted to know the current EB category. This shows that SR responses are most of the times useless. I made a infopass appointment (3rd visit in 1 week) and was indeed able to find that USCIS screwed up my EB classification. Now I am trying all avenues to get this corrected. Because of USCIS's mistake I Lost multiple approval opportunities in last 2 years went dates became current for EB2.
My I-140 clearly shows that it's approved in Eb2 adv Degrees or Exceptional ability category. My lawyer and Employer both have agreed that USCIS has made mistake. in Infopass they created an SR last week with regards to this and there is no response.

I would nt think that our lobby firms opinion would be made public....it may be dterimental to our cause, as anti-immigrant groups may use that information to their advantage.

Hi, Looks like several of us have got glitches here and there on the I 485. As I mentioned in my post, the customer service persons at CIS told me to make correction after getting the receipt.
I suggest that each of us call the customer service just to verify whether the responses are consistent. I called 2 times and the responses were largely consistent.
The rationale for this proposed strategy is that customer service people sometimes are impatient and really do not answer questions appropriately. This seems to be a common problem with over-the-phone customer service.:mad:

NRE accounts--> interest earned is not taxable in India but has to be reported in your 1040 here.
NRO accuont--> earns very high interest rates (was 11%) just a few months ago. There will be TDS but you can file an income tax return and claim the amount that they deducted above what you would be taxed.
For eg:- if your total interest earned is 100,000 they would withhold upto 30% of it (may be lesser depending upon your situation). When you file your returns your total income is only 100,000 which is below the taxable limits and therefor you will be returned all that was witheld. Only those with interests >180,000 per anum will really lose money.
Some people split accounts and try to hide interest income. This is not advisable if you ever want to repatriate the interest income. Once you have payed required taxes on the interest you can repatriate any amount of interest income to the US. Many people use this as a source of regular income.

till date. If this guy get a pre approved labor let him accept
it and get ahead. Nobody blocks you to accept pre approved
labor. I'm retrogressed with PD of 2003 on EB3 India. But for
that reason I dont think I'm going to shout at somebody using
a pre approved labor and get ahead of me.

Dear Friends, my 140 just got approved at TSC (EB3-India, PD Feb 03, 140/485 filed in July 07). Given the current economic turmoil, my company may lay off people. I have a valid EAD till Oct 09. God forbid, if I can't find another job here after my layoff, is it legal to go to my home country (i.e., India) for a few months and then come back before Oct 09 to renew my EAD? Assuming the USCIS doesn't adjudicate my 485 while I'm away, could I have any problems at the port of entry (since I would be using Advance Parole but wouldn't have a job)?

My current 8th year H1 is valid until end of May 2007 from employer A, we applied for 9th year ext and got a big RFE. As a backup, can I transfer my H1 to employer B and get 1 year extension (until May 2008) based on my approved labor from employer A ??

Fist of all, a definition of PLEDGE:
PLEDGE: A solemn promise or agreement to do or refrain from doing something. Example, a pledge of aid; a pledge not to wage war.
Situation:
More or less, all of us are aware of the importance of IV.org and how much IV means to us as an organization AND as an entity that strives to help us get out of the gut of current immigration situation.
We also know that a day will arrive when we (and spouse/kids) will have Green card in our hands.
If not next month, perhaps in another 6 months for some people. Or perhaps a year or two away and to some people, unfortunately, even longer.
But we will get it one day.
IV is a very active organization who is working hard in our best interest and it does not matter how you get the Green Card, IV will have, direct or indirect, contribution to it.
Proposal:
There was a thread going around few months ago on "how will you celebrate the day you get greened?" Some prefer throwing a party, some prefer vacation, some would overload gallons of alcohol in their body or some would donate money to their respective temples or church.
These are all good things to do. (OK. May be not the alcohol part) :)
In addition to the above, I invite you to celebrate that day by flowing some donation to IV. Just as a token of saying THANK YOU. This will help IV to continue to fight for other folks out there.
I invite you make a sincere pledge TODAY on how much money you would like to donate to IV on the day you get greened.
Nobody is going to twist your arm if you decide not to donate, but I trust that most of the people takes pride in keeping their word once given.
Even if 50 people among us get their green cards each month and each one of them decides to donate $100, it will amount to $5,000 to IV and it will help them fight for a cause for rest of the people out there.
No pressure.
Just an idea.
I myself pledge for $250 donation today.
Others are welcome to participate.

Be adviced, even though they are ready to file your GC in EB2, they frequently lay off people in which case they might not be able to file your GC on the commited day. Big companies go by book. Generally when company lays off, it can not file new labor within 180 days of the effectice lay off. Of course it depends on what kind of people they are laying off and if the title matches your position and what not. But this happened to me. I work for another big company (not oracle) and mine was delayed six months due to this reason. I do not want to scare you but just want to educate you. Think about all these scenarios before making any decision. Good Luck.
